2.5 hour drive from Waitomo to Rotorua - Enjoyed the lush scenery and cows and sheep everywhere.
Arrive in Rotorua mid afternoon with just enough time to visit Whakarewarewa (The Thermal Village) - This is an authentic Maori village where the people still live. It's pretty amazing to think that people live so close to the geysers. Pools of hot, steaming water are all around them which they use for cooking, heating, and bathing.
Rotorua Night Market and a chance to try Whitebait Fritters - Happen to be in Rotorua on a Thursday night when they have their night market. We finally get a chance to try an NZ whitebait fritter. Expected it to be more fishy, but we could barely taste the fish at all.
