Project Honeymoon - Day 13: Drive to Christchurch

The Store
I Take the Wheel! - I give Hubby a break from driving and decide to take the wheel today.  The drive is about 4.5 hours to Christchurch.  Picton is quite small, so it's a good little town for me to get my feet wet and drive out of.  The hardest part about driving on the other side of the road is being mindful of the left-side of the car.  Having a mid-size rental car also doesn't help.  For the first 30 minutes or so, Hubby is a little bit jumpy because I get a little too close to things on the left-hand side...curbs, bridge walls, etc.  I can tell that he's nervous because he's got his left hand clutching the door handle.  As I get more confident, he eventually relaxes.

The Biggest Sausage Roll Ever!
The Biggest Sausage Roll Ever - Before we left Picton, we picked up a few breakfast items for the roll.  Hubby was drawn to a gigantic meat-filled sausage roll...we had never seen one so big before...that is...until we came by "The Store" in Kekerengu.  It's pretty much a meatloaf wrapped in pastry!

Seals & Sheep - The drive from Picton to Christchurch is so beautiful along the coast.  This has been the most stunning drive yet.  We make a turn off after we see a sign for "Seal Watching".  We're at the Ohau Point Seal Colony and the seals are so close to us on the rocks.  Well, not so close that you can touch them, but close enough for great photos.  Hubby had a field day with his camera.  I didn't charge my batter overnight and my camera died after a few shots.  After taking photos of seals we were inspired to take photos of sheep.  We came across a great place along the highway where the sheep were right up to the fence.  Hubby got a cute shot of a mom with her two lambs which I'll have to get off his card later.
