My Extra 3 Hours...

Yesterday was my first day of watching only 1 hour of TV.  Given that we have a PVR and I can skip through commercials, that means I actually can watch 1.5 hours worth of TV in only 1 hour...is that cheating?  I ended up watching 3 episodes of Big Bang Theory which made for good laughs.

Instead of watching TV while making dinner I turned on the radio.  I guess if I had the TV on while I was making dinner you could consider that time excluded from my 1 hour, but I still tend to watch the TV from the kitchen when I cook.  With only the radio, I can listen with my ears no matter what direction my eyes are pointed.

With my extra 3 hours I:
  1. Bought groceries and made dinner
  2. Went online to research books to help me improve my business skills and looked them up in our local library catalogue (will be picking them up today)
  3. Went to bed early and read a book
Not too shabby!  And by going to bed early, I feel refreshed for today...bonus!

The Honeymoon Ain't Over! Let's Begin a New Chapter...

So, it's been about a month since we flew home from New Zealand...home of our fantastic honeymoon adventure.  Hubby says he really misses their yogurt...LOL.

What's in store for Project Esposa now?  Well, now I'm on a quest to find ways to better manage my time and become more efficient.  Two reasons:

  1. I want a happy family
  2. I want to be happy in my own career and accomplishments
I figure the less rushed and stressed I am the happier I am and the happier my husband will be and our future kids.  To me it all boils down to being organized and prepared.  It also means limiting how much time I spend on things which don't affect me positively.

In my first step to increasing my efficiency, I've decided to cut-off TV to 1 hour per day.  I figure I spend about 4 hours on TV everyday.  At just 1 hour of TV a day, imagine what I could do in 3 hours?!  When I think about it, does TV really mean a lot to me?  Not really.  I would rather learn to be a better cook, take a dance class, or even improve my guitar skills than that.  What would be more valuable to me after a year?  Would keeping up with Grey's Anatomy change my life more than eating healthier and being more active and fit?  Hmmm...put it that way and the decision seems pretty easy.

Today marks Day 1 of TV at just 1 hour a day.    Thank goodness for PVRs.  At least I can choose what show I'm in the mood for watching when I allow myself that 1 hour.
